Did anyone ever see these in Britain? Because I didn't. Yet, curiously, they are made there.

I have a grudge against the Citrus Sours. I've eaten a whole tin this afternoon and have managed to strip my tongue of epithelial cells. evil It hurts. (

Well I couldn't find an alternate name, but my mum used to have peppermints that looked and tasted just like them and I'm sure they weren't called Altoids. She also had some slightly bigger ones (about shirt button diameter) that came in a blue cardboard box. Can't remember the name of those either. She also used to have licorice Imps and Fishermans friends in her arsenal of tastebud-stripping sweets.

I tried them for the first time just recently.
I have a vague recognition of the shape but I really don't remember the name.

Trebor Extra-Strong mints and TicTacs are the only things I can think of in the extra strong mint category.

I think they are called Curiously Strong Mints.

Most drug stores sell them here.

They were definitely sold in the UK, my gran used to have them - but I'm not sure they were called Altoids. I recognize the tins on the website though.

And I'm quite disturbed to learn that there is a citrus sour version, capable of stripping cells from whatever moist surface it touches. oops

You must try the Cinnamon Altoids GUM. It is very nice...if not slightly addictive!
