Hello all!

My fiance will be arriving on April 26th to Seattle (on a K-1 visa), and we are getting hitched May 21.

Can anyone tell me what the wait time is for a work permit / ssn / greencard after the wedding? He'd like to work as soon as possible after the wedding, and remembering how crazy I went waiting to get my first job in Scotland, I would like him to work as soon as possible, too!

Thanks much!
Hello there, welcome to Britnet. That really is one of those "how long is a piece of string" questions! However, the best place to find lots of people who have recently been through the same thing using the same processing centre is http://www.visajourney.com.

hope this helps )
I came over on a K-1 in May 2000, got married the next month and was working by mid august. Quicker than I thought. I guess you could be quicker or you could be slower. Hope it goes quick for you guys though D
Took me a couple of months too - married Jan 20th, EAD came late April I believe.
My husband and I were married February 12th, 2003. I gained my Work Permit around mid-May 2003, and my SS number around June or July 2003. I began working at my first ever job in the USA on August 13th, 2003.

Hope this helps - that was exactly the way it worked with us. Good luck - I know how the anticipation and worry can be.
