We currently live in the UK, my daughter lives in the US with her family, she is going through the process of becoming a US citizen at the moment. After this happens she is going to sponsor us, being (me) her mother, her stepfather and half sister who is 10 years old. I understand that we would automatically get a visa number as we are classed as immediate relatives, but what about our 10 year old, the waiting time on the UCIS website is 4 years ahhh. Surely there is another sort of visa she could go on and apply for change of status whilst in the US. Anyone know anything about this??
Looking at what it says on http//www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/index.html

You would be fine as her mother.
She could only sponsor her father if she was under 18 when you married.
She could sponsor her sister, but in the family category, rather than immediate relative.

Once you lands in the US, you'd be able to sponsor both her husband and child in her own right.

It's worth double-checking with an official source.
Check out this site. Its awesome for advise and info about immigration.
