I know we have some...a Wiccan teen was suspended from skool for 5 days for wearing makeup.

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/news/041305_...nded.html#

"Herndon says his black lipstick and red eye makeup express the Wiccan religious beliefs he shares with his mother, a priestess in the neo-pagan faith. He contends the suspension violates his constitutional right to free expression."

Here he is by the way-:

Do the Wiccans have a 'Book of Laws' that says 'Thou shalt dress up like a goth, live in a warm climate and be permanently hot and sweaty'? Were Sigue sigue sputnik wiccans too?

His mum should have told him to take it easy on the eyeshadow - less is more.
He does have the right by law to be a freak.

He's expressing his personality.

***Don't judge a book by his cover regards****

Mother of potential 'Freak'

Why not just have school uniform and be done with this?

In general, I find America a very confused and two-faced country. On the one hand, it happily brain-washes everyone into thinking it is the most free nation in the world, whilst simultaneously re-writing the Constitution to impose more and more controls.

For a good laugh, one can read the Second Ammendment to the Constitution which is nowadays politically correct to interpret as referring to the right of hunters to bear arms but no one else except military, National Guard or police.

This is complete bollocks and is not what the Founding Fathers meant at all - they quite clearly wanted the populace to be armed EQUALLY to the military (National Guard/police did not exist then), in order to keep the government in check!

 Doubtful, but they certainly weren't Goths :x
definitely Glam, chuck.

Judging by the eye make-up I'd say his mother's Tammy Faye.

This story always crops up in various forms - braids/dreadlocks/mini-skirts - and unreasonable authorities (.i.e. underpaid teachers trying to maintain some kind of discipline). There is always some parent in the background egging them on against the injustice.

What about the kids who want to bring guns to school? Is that unconstitutional too? Is chastizing a kid for disrupting a class impinging on your rights to free speech?

I suppose he has every right to gad about looking like a right twonk - but I think he can do it after school and at the weekend.
The French take the view that there should be no religous symbols within their state schools. What do French Wiccans do? Hide there Mohicans under a beret?

We had a young lad at the high school who came dressed as a woman, banging on about it being his constitutional right...blah, blah. Trouble was he looked like something out of Monty Python and was so obviously taking the piss. roll

Needless to say, his father ( a wannabe member of the school council) was right behind him....nothing to do with the fact that it was right before election time and he wanted some "right on" publicity. roll

Dunno what the upshot of it all was though.

Another local high school now has kids coming to school wearing PJ's. If they would only have uniforms then none of this would arise, I'm sure.

A mohican is not automatically a wiccan / pagan hairstyle.

Although I would like to slap that tubby pale moran for looking like a twonk.

I have never heard of hair and makeup specific to wiccan religion.
I do believe the school has the right to determine if a child is appropriately attired and made up.
His freedoms should be resitricted to the hours outside of school.Whyis it that people think there should be no rules and regulations on the way kids dress in schools just because it's taxpayer funded.
How exactly are these kids going to cope with the restrictions of real life once they get out of school?

So if he wore a wig to school his twonkness would drop a shade and he would not be breaking wiccan religious codes...

What about the black lippo? Wiccan or Non Wiccan.
As a civillain 'left-footer' we have no dress code - priests can have mohicans of any colour if they wish but their socks muust match. (Canon Law Rule 71 page 7)

Surely its down to the principle at the end of the day and the dress code of the school. You can't just make up stuff and pretend they're part of a religion. I think stuff like this needs to honour religious traditions like turbans but this is ridiculous.

Black lippo - Non-Wiccan. More like Goth Wannabe.

Mohawk is currently blue here.

Agreed what a pratt.

The poor bastard is basically ruining any chance of getting his leg over in high school.
