Are you going to be around fri night when my team united beats the shit out of the crew ?????
D Might be going to that, although it is on telly. The Crew did look pretty dire against the NE revolution last week.

How many more years is Adu going to be the 15 year old wonder kid? Does he ever have a birthday? D
The Crew were really really bad against NE.

Just remembered that DC have Steve Guppy, which is a blast from my past. With a bit of luck it should be a lot better weather than the home opener.

I reckon he'll be another Gascoigne or Maradona - in five or sixe years he'll be a fat bastard, snorting coke and drinking himself under the table. :D

It is the Steve Guppy who played for Wycombe, Leicester etc.

i see DCs keeper is getting some practice in for Friday tonight. D

He started his career there and was his last club before he made the jump over the pond. I always remember him playing for Port Vale for John Rudge. I think after his Leicester and Celtic seasons he was at Leeds and then went to Stoke City which must have chuffed the Port Vale fans to no end!! I did read a couple of weeks ago at Bigsoccer.com about Guppy.

I thought the biggest player to make the jump was Yuri Djorkaeff who's now at the Metrostars and who is (suprise suprise....) injured

I think he'll be a good player too, but I think the MLS were guilty of over hyping this kid as the big star and messiah of the MLS. I watched a few DC games and I think that Peter Nowak did the right thing by playing him in as a sub. I think the thing about DC last season was that they started slow but to be fair they got better as the season went along. Now the Metrostars were the complete opposite!! :o

I think there's a good chance of him being a Gazza or a Maradona....I mean he's been hanging around and drinking with that troublemaking Pele geezer already......

You mean losing 5-0 in the Champions Cup? :D Bit of a non event really, the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The Theory of the Specialization of Sports

They [MLS] play kiddies football. Its about as interesting as an American football league in England. They made their decision 150 years ago, along with the Aussies, South Africans and Kiwis not to play proper football but some variation on rugby, supposedly for social class reasons.

We don't play their shitty football and they should leave ours alone, because when they don't, they look like wankers eg MLS. No one really gives a toss about American football, baseball or basketball other than the Americans and a few sycophants, that’s how it should be, they play their games and we play ours.

The thing that gets me is how they do so sodding well in the World Cup. I mean no-one here gives a toss, yet they got to the quarter finals.
