What a small world eh, spent a lot of time going in and out of that blackhorse road tube station and driving down ferry road.
Wow what a tiny world it is! What makes so many people in Walthamstow want to leave the country? Are we just brought up worldly or are we just sick of the place? The only other Brit I have met in my little (30,000) town in the midwest is from: Walthamstow!
What is the name of that pub again, across the road from the station?
The "Stannit" or Standard. Lots of good live music there. I got drunk on some scrumpy there a few times.
What schools did you lot go to? I went to Winns, William Fitt and Monoux.
8) Leyton senior high school here lol. I think going down the market made me think, "there must be something else out there" lol. Loved going down the Sunday market lol. Last time I went home had to pop in to some of the old haunts lol
Well I'm from E4, but I naturally spent a lot of time in E17. Specifically the Dog and Duck at the Billet, not that it's the Billet any more, or even the Dog and Duck. I also used to spend an ungodly amount of time at the Kebab shop with the seats, Hoe Street - although I'll be f*cked if I can remember what it was called - any help? I used to play basketball at Kelmscott as well.
For the Record, I was a Larkswood, Rushcroft and Highams Park boy.
8) They renamed the dog and Duck, and the kebab shop was that up near the high street end ???
Does anyone ever remember any kebab shop name? Does anyone care? It's usually "the one at this bus stop" or "the one on the corner of so-and-so"...
Dog'n'Duck was my local. Never went there more than once though. I delivered papers for the paper shop right next door to it, and the other side was my chippy. Small world eh?
You are right, no one really gave a shite about the kebab shop name, and as you rightly put it there, it's usually refered to as " the one by the bookies", "the one by tesco", or " the one by the walthamstow bus station"
Good old E17, have some good memories and some not so good ones D
