Apparently Christopher Eccleston has already quit after one series, which puts the dampers on it a little bit.

I wasnt that suprised to see that Christopher Eccleston quit as Dr.Who already. This episode was leaked on the internet a few weeks ago and it turned out it was someone at CBC who did the leaking!! D

Eastenders Worldwide has it for download for those interested outside of Canada

Well I sat there and watched the first episode and its kind of Dr.Who ish and it is a little bit more contemporary but for me the jury is still out. I was a big fan of Tom Baker and it still has that element of eccentricity but it still looks a little low budget for me. This Doctor Who is a little more in the way of fantasy and doesnt have that look of science fiction. I know that there maybe a fine line between the two but for me its all in the imagery. I thought Christopher Eccleston was okay as the Doctor he tried to keep his character whimsical yet with an air of seriousness at times. To me he tried to be a little bit like the Patrick Troughton incarnation of the Doctor. I'll give it a chance and I'll watch it again!!

I thought it was very Dr Who ish, which obviously comes across strangely all these years later, and makes it 'special'.
I kept thinking, could I see Tom Bakers Dr Who ( also my favourite) in this scene, and the answer was generally yes.
Ill try and watch it again, it's the best TV I'v watched in ages wink

Ok that was a surprise, last time I was there the first Dr Who was posted and everything was as normal.
Guess nothing for free lasts forever, especially when the BBC has an online pay tv service comming (

Bit of an update
http//news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/4396961.stm
The Daily Mail says Eccleston left because he thought the role was too camp and effeminate. However, I do realise that this is not a newspaper known for its amazing truthfullness. The BBC was also quite furious with Eccleston because of all the merchandise they'd prepared for the Christmas market in his likeness.
Must say I'm really enjoying the series. Billie Piper is surprisingly good too.
