As you know, the Pope is very ill and not expected to live long. Thousands of Catholics are praying for him all over the world.

Now here's a question. Exactly what are they praying for? A miraculous recovery? A painless passing into heaven? An end to his physical suffering? A speedy death? Perhaps they are praying for his soul - but isn't that rather bad form when someone isn't even dead yet?

The realist in me made me wish for a speedy end to my mother's suffering when she was ill while others prayed for her. I have no idea what they were praying for but words like "healing" were mentioned. After she died I felt guilty for not having prayed for her healing, but realistically that was not going to happen - even if one believes in miracles, who is to say who deserves or needs one?

What do you suppose they are all praying for? I would just wish for suffering to end one way or the other - by death or by cure.
They're all praying that I don't get the job. I only want the job for the cool hat and access to the smut in the Vatican library.

Pope Vegas - sacrament will be tacos and Stolichnaya.

The Popemobile will have hydraulics, spiffy wheels and flames up the side.

/MTV Pimp my Pope regards...
//Yes I'm going to burn.
It'll need more than a plume of white smoke to tell the world you ahve been elected Pope, VRB! lol (You'll only burn if you believe in it ;) )
Vegas lol you make my days wink
Google New is reporting Il Papa has just had a heart attack and his organs have been compromised.

/better get that passport out, I'm goin' to Rome!
He just died .

gong to rotton.com to pick up my 5 points .
REMEMBER THE DATE ...SORRY
My wife has e-mailed me to say that he's already dead. I assume her sources (she's working in the NY office of an Italian newspaper) are good..

As a Catholic of sorts - I reckon that people will be praying for all sorts of different things. I would be praying for him to die with dignity and not too much suffering (not sure this is officially Catholic policy based on who was advising the Schindler family during the Schiavo case). I'm sure there are some eternal optimists praying for a full recovery and a final world tour with full ground kissing..

I'd chuck in a couple of hail mary's for the new pope too. John Paul II will be a tough act to follow.
The bbc has not said anything about it yet.

So what's in your feeding tube, Manc?
