Finally watched the England v Northern Ireland game last night on its FSC tape delay. I wish England had played like that against a good team so we could see how they would match up! 4-0! Bloody brilliant! The Irish only managed to get the ball on goal once, and that was from 20 yards out in the 70th minute! I know they're only 111th in the world

If we don't win the World Cup next year it will never be in my lifetime. We have so much strength in depth now! I don't remember the England team being so strong on the bench.

Thats if our strikers can manage to hit the ball within the two goal posts ,

We need to be strong on the pitch mate.

Well not on the performance tonight. They were talking double figures at the start.

I thought the performance was pretty decent, hit the woodwork 4 times? couple of good saves, on another day they go in.

With England i really dont care about the performance, i just want them to win.

"They" being the tabloids. The other "they", the team, just wanted 3 points. This was like any other bottom-dweller, they come to defend with 11 men. Northern Ireland came out to play and were punished for it. We need to learn to open up teams like this, but it won't help us in the World Cup Finals.

And nowhere did I say we would win in 2006. I just said if it's ever in my lifetime it will be then.

I didn't actually see the game, but from what I heard on the radio it wasn't the best. Still our opponents did lose 8-0 to Poland at the weekend so 2-0 is a little disappointing.

Anyone see the Guatemala - USA game? I thought the USA looked pretty decent in that;

Someone made a good point on 5 Live last night. England beat the Azeris by a quarter of the goals the Poles did. The Poles beat the Irish by a quarter of the goals England did. Are the Poles as disappointed with their score as we are? At this stage all any team can care about is getting three points. I would rather save the luck in front of goal for the Polish and Austrian games and then the Finals.

Aren't the number of places based on how the teams did from that qualifying area in the last world cup? Mexico got to the 2nd round and the U.S the quarter finals.
