Hi everyone,

I am new to this board and may be asking a question previously asked but here goes....

I came out to the States from England just over ten years ago, it took me eight of those years to get my green card! Finally I can come and go without the rigamarole I have become accustomed to. Now, however I am thinking of moving out to New Zealand and am toying with the idea of going for my American Citizenship since I don't want to lose the chance to return to the US. Has anyone here got dual Citizenship with the US and UK and then applied for residency somewhere else? If becoming a Citizen here will affect my chances to live in NZ, I may have to reconsider going for US Citizenship.

Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

Moderator, please feel free to merge this into an appropriate thread cos I know how tiresome us newbies can be! )
Applying for US citizenship bfore you leave is a good idea. I failed to push that angle and regret it now as you lose the right after 12 months out of the States.

It won't affect your chances in NZ either - so no worries there.

Have you considered Australia also?
