With today's display of several prolific baseball players taking the Fifth Ammendment seemingly each time they were asked in Washington DC about steroid use, is this a new low for sports here?

I recall the big slug-out between Sosa and McGuire when I first came here and was immersing myself in many things American. I couldn't really understand the fuss but later realised that it was breathing life back into a sport that was on the decline.

Now it all looks staged, fake and what did it actually achieve?

A panel member today suggested that records should be stripped, of which the players bitterly complained, yet McGuire didn't even have the guts to admit either way whether he took steroids or not.

We can all draw our own conclusions I suppose and my conclusion is that he did and his record should be deleted.
I know a personal assistant to one of the big MLB teams, he says you would be amazed at what goes on behind the scenes.
What is this teaching our children?
Not much in my book evil
Not a baseball fan but i watched the house hearings all the same .

What a farce you heard mcqiure OR wahtever his name is first crying about the children addicted to steriods and then qiute a few times patting himself on the back as to how much of his PERSONAL money he has put into a charity, and then when asked about his drug use sitting like a dork and answering every questions with * im not going to talk about the past * .
If there was any doubt about his past drug use the question has been answered now .

From what went on i believe conseca (sp) by the way he answered and have little respect for the other * players * and there whinning about ....others took drugs but not me...

As much as i dislike govt interferance this is one instance when the feds need to step in and legislate .

The NLB has a lock on the sport thanks to the govts exception granted to them of the anti trust laws .. now is the time to pay the piper for this undeserved priviledge .
