Worcestershire Sauce to be precise!!
Lea & Perrins are trying to persuade the EU to ban anyone from making Worcestershire Sauce outside of Worcestershire!! I just bought some a few weeks ago from the supermarket and its bottled in New Jersey!!
The bottling plant was a few hundred yards away from where I used to work in Worcester and you could smell it for miles!! Now its a little more difficult to smell being a few thousand miles away!!
Still, apart from The Archers its my little piece of Worcestershire!!

Anyone else like a bit of Worcestershire Sauce or have you found a new tipple over here?

I still use L&P.
Is there something special in it that makes it unique to Worcestershire?

That is how the champagne people got the name champagne taken of other "champagnes"

If not I don't think they stand a chance.

what is it made from anyway?
The recipe is supposed to be a secret, but saying that I believe they have the ingredients on the back of the bottle but obviously the proportions arent on there!! roll
I know going back a few weeks ago there was a recall in Canada and the USA of Cross & Blackwell Worcestershire Sauce after there was a scare about a chemical that got in there by mistake which was supposed to be cancerous.
Wonderful stuff!

I use it on cheese on toast, in stews, crock-pot recipes, burgers, sausage rolls etc.

Apparently one of the key ingredients is anchovies! o

Debs x )
The offending substance was Sudan 1, involved I think the contamination of chilli powder.
Over 500 products been recalled in the UK.

Don't know if the US will be affected.

I love warsester shire sauce
