Did anybody see the oscars other then me who watched it from my sick bedside as i have /had a bad case of allegies and my problem with siatica seam to keep returning .

Geting back to the point the show was a vehicle for hollywood types to pat each other on the back and hand out a lot of little gold men with *no privates *

I admire both martin scorsese and clint eastwood and have *multi million baby* avaitor *and* ray *on my list of movies to see courtasy metflix .

Shame Marty got beat again but ive no opinion as to who made the best movies as ive not seen either . )

Chris Rock looked very uncomfortable out there and his jokes where very week and fell well short of his usual (cutting edge style )with one about john kerry and ophrah winfrey his timing was off .

He is at the top of his game right now and USUALLY makes me laugh so much but this venue didnt suit him .he is the master of political /social satire at the moment .

One laugh i did get was when Cate Blanchard on recieving her award called it ***the dogs bollocks ** it went complently past the censors they didnt seem to have a clue .

The segment featuring Johny Carson was a class act honouring a classy guy.

All those heavily made up film ladies sqeezed into those slinky dresses with there faithfull companions hanging on there arms really took you away from reality for a few hours , and dropped you into the make believe land of americas hollywood .

Yep. Had fun trying to explain what the 'dogs bollox' were. I agree, Chris Rock wasn't a particularly good host.

How can you complain about Chris Rock and not complain about Robin Williams. Mind williams did come on wearing a bandaid/plaster over his mouth. He'd been censored about a joke about Jessica rabbit being a man and the like, all because he wanted to poke fun at the guys who said SPONGEBOB is gay.
If Williams was censored, imagine what they did to Rock. !!!!!!!

You voted for them. it's a family show, what were you hoping for JohnA.

PS, hope your sciatica gets better. Remember your essential fatty acids, eat lots of fish and take a B complex. That's what the docs told us. Both for the nerves.

That was the director of "Wasp", Andrea Arnold who got that one past the censors et al, not Cate Blanchett (who is an Ozzie anyway, isn't she?)

Hope her mates back in UK buy her pints for many years to come for that one.

I know about family shows that my point ,chris rock didnt belong there it might have done his career irriversable harm .

I must have dozed of during the Robin Williams seqence , another adult comedian who is extremly funny in his right ellement .
used to see him a lot in comedy clubs before he hit the big time .. always left crying with laughter . :D :D :D :D

Hey, stop limiting his career. The guy has a family now, his raunchy days are well gone. The guy still does his comedy, but he's not just a comedian. Allow him to grow.
Besides, i thought it was quite nice seeing all those ethnic folk up there. Something else for whitey to complain about!!! :wink: :lol:
