I am looking at buying a grilled sandwich maker.
Looking at them it seems that there are the straightforward grilled cheese sarni makers, or Panini presses or some that can do both.
Has anyone got any of these? What would you recommend, the straight sandwich maker or the Panini maker?
Thanks
Mandy
Hi Mandy,
i have just the regular gilled cheese maker and it works well, but the panini one sounds great then you have the option of doing both D
I use our foreman grill thingy and that does a great job on sandwiches, no slouch on chicken breasts either.
I have a regular grilled sandwich maker, however in retrospect I wish I'd bought the Panini one, which would've given me the option of doing either.
Thx all,
I think I am going to get the Panini one )
Yummy....

I have a pannini one and it makes loverly toasted sarnies as well as being able to grill anything.
I have even made pancakes in it, they came out waffly and not so puffy but it was an emergency. lol
I use a cast-iron skillet. It doesn't take up as much counter space and you can fry bacon and eggs in it afterwards.
What he said. I love my skillet - it cooks my steaks, lamb chops, pork, sausages, bacon, eggs and even toasted sandwiches should I be so inclined.

All I know is however you make your grilled cheese sandwiches they are made ten times more delicious with a good splash of worcester sauce.
A nice old gent at a British Rail buffet gave me that tip in the '70s and I've never looked back. D
The one I am going to get....Once I order it is a skillet/panini grill....it has the floating panini lid, it also acts as a forman grill and you can open it up to it's double width to use as a skillet.
It's called the Cuisinart GR4 Indoor Grill. A bit pricier than the others but seems to be worth it because it is very versitile.

Proper bacon sandwiches are the best with lashings of brown sauce in them and not that fancy HP stuff.

Also make cracking quesadillas in my skillet too. Like cheese toasties but cooler.
