Well it is now less than week until I leave these shores and head back to the UK permanently (my last day out here is Tuesday).

The last few weeks planning have gone well and almost everything is now tied up - just waiting for state tax refund and final paycheck to roll in.

Have found a new job (I actually have spent the last 10 days having 6am telephone interviews), give notice to the tenants of one of my houses and got my car MoT'd (and started looking for new one).

I'm sure it will feel very odd to finally go and who knows whether it is the right decision......one of my friends always told me there is never a right or wrong decision, just a decision so we'll see how it goes.........
I wish you the best of luck. I imagine it's kind of strange going back, but I'm sure you're a better man for you experiences over here - good or bad.

Make sure you keep is posted, it's the same Internet over there you know? Maybe you should keep a blog?
Lucky so and so. Stuck here for at least another 6 yrs, then we can consider the kids independent enough hopefully, so we can return to, if not the UK, Europe.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Brst of luck, I am green woth envy, where will you be working??

Congratulations and great news. I'm pleased it has worked out well for you but sorry we never got to meet. It's funny you only being an hour away and yet it seems a difficult task for us to get into the city sometimes. )
Thanks for the well wishes.

Guess I could keep a blog if I knew how!

I'll still be on here all the time as it has been nice to feel part of a community and always have soemone to 'chat' to when things have not been going so well...............

As for the new car cel....I was thinking of asking my parents to buy me a new Ferrari D but then thought better of it!!!!!!!!!!!! Although saying that I will be living with them again for the frist 6 week until my house becomes vacant - nothing like a bit of home cooking, even if I am 30!

Actually will be working real close to where I'll be living, which is the Gatwick Airport area (not not on the runway!), but will be travelling all the over the world as b4 so who knows when I'll be back on this side of the world
Best of luck with your move uuf. Just out of interest what are you doing (if anything) about the dire $ to pound exchange rate, it's something we're worried about as we stand to lose big with the current xchange rate.
Lizzi, nothing right now......I have put my US$ into an ING Direct savings account - this earns 2.35% which is the best (and most convenient) I have found....it is linked (electronically) to my US checking account which I am leaving open (with a UK address) and will then wire money electronically when the rate goes slightly in my favour.

I am perhaps lucky in that I don't need any of the cash I have out initially at home as my new job will be covering the monthly bills...........

But you're right it is bad right now. When I moved out I got 1.36 to the GBP and now going the other way they want almost $1.90 o

Try http://www.blogger.com - they let you host blogs for free and they are super easy, don't need to know anything about anything really (that must be the case as I have one there!)

Where near Gatwick will you be? I lived in Crawley for a year and my ex's family were from that area so I know it quite well.

Actually in Crawley, and if you know it well, Maidenbower, the new (ish) bit near Pound Hill......I'll be working on the edge of the industrial estate, next to the Gatwick Manor but travelling a lot.......
I do know Maidenbower - we were going to live there at one point but a bit too far from station. We used to live on Ifield Road which was about 10 min walk from train station (can't remember what the area was called). Exes parents lived in Gossops Green. Crawley was not my most favourite place in the world and I was glad to get out as no fond memories whatsoever - however, you could get a lot more for your moneyin property terms than in London.

Enjoy and good luck with your move and your new job D
True it is much cheaper than London but prices have been going sky high for a while now and everything is changing, more businesses, leisure stuff going in all the time......it's where I'm originally from so should be fun........

6 days.......................and counting..........................
