Any other CT/RI Brits out there interested in getting together this summer for a Golden Jubilee party?

I know Ben, Dawn and others from NJ have mentioned the idea, maybe we could even do something for all of us East coast lot?

Parties to celebrate anything that bring folks together that have just corresponded on the net is very challenging and exciting
.
I am a member of a sports chat room who 3 years ago decided to meet one a year at a designated football game .

We are scattered around the usa even more so then my football buddies and it would be a gigantic job for anybody that would be willing to try to organize it but if sucessfull would be in my opinion one of the greatest events one would wish to attend .
What about MA Brits? sad We are not so very far away you know.
Yes, yes MA Brits too! Us CT Brits Looooooooove you MA Brits! lol

Thats what I meant really, when I said East Coast, NY, NJ, NH, MA, RI, CT etc. The more the merrier! Anyone who is up for it.

I think us CT lot will def do something here to which ALL our welcome.

However, if there is enough interest maybe we could do another bash on a bigger scale, where ever is convenient for the largest number of people, which looking at the board might turnout to be NJ?

Thanks for the encouragement JohnA its much appreciated, a big gathering would be a real challenge but I reckon us Brit Netters are up to it don't you? I mean we are British we can organise anything! smile

Would love to help.. ive got experiance in organizing that sort of thing .but alas im out here in the* wild west * the nearest folks to me in texas would proberly be further away in miles that you lot are in all the eastern states put together

Any excuse for a good old knees up grin
I'll bring the trifle!!!
Im sure we can sort something out, their are now about 9 ct brits in regular contact so we shall work on it cool
I would love to help where I can.

Maybe the first thing that should be found out is how many are going to be coming. Then we can decide where to meet up. Looking at where everyone is, it does look as though CT is the most central state.

But I would be very happy to have everyone over here if anyone wants to come.

There are 5 of us - 2 adults, 3 children.

How many do you all have?
Hi ya Ben,

I was hoping you might be up for this.

I've just done a rough count of us CT Brits and so far its about 17 adults and 6 children. (I'm including the PowderPuff girls Deb, BrigieDarling, and Lisa in this count)

So with your family Ben we are already up to 19 adults and 9 children.

If we do go for having it here in CT I'd be very happy to host it at our house.

Any other takers? KentGirl would you & yours be able to make it?

JohnA we might have to pick your brains for hints & tips on how to organise this!

Anymore for anymore?
I wish I could come too, but I'll actually be in England during the Jubilee Weekend! (I hear they're having a two-day public holiday).

Anyway, what you will need is some red, white & blue bunting, and the Americans have thoughtfully chosen the same colours for their flag....so you should be able to find some bunting as it is so close to the 4th of July. You should easily find red, white and blue balloons too. (Maybe I should take some back to Blighty!)

You can even print off the official purple and gold "Golden Jubilee" emblems (might be an idea to get a few laminated though) to impress the neighbours; go to http//www.britain-info.org and click on the gold crown on the right. It will take you to the official Jubilee website. Click on emblems & souvenirs and you can see an assortment of things to print off.

A good idea is to get some sticky labels from Staples, you can even get them which say, "Hello, my name is......" which would be a nice touch. Spouses & kids could have the Britnetter's names underneath in brackets so you know who 'belongs' to whom!

Now don't forget the jelly & blamonge...ha ha! lol
I do believe I have some real Union Jack bunting somewhere..... but no idea where.
Hello everyone!

Lovely to hear from you all!

Don't worry BrigieDarling you haven't missed anything.

The Jubilee Bash is definately a "go" but us CT Brits are a bit slow off the starting block, so we haven't set a date yet.

I think location will be my place in North Stonington.

Dawn, we are thinking we won't actualy have it on the proper weekend as, one of our trusty band of Brits here in CT is also going to be visting the UK then and we really wanted her to be able to attend too.

We figured the advantage of being over here is that we can pick a date to suit the most number of people! So hopefully we can arrange it so you and yours can come too. It would be great to meet you I always enjoy reading your posts. Also thanks so much for all the great suggestions and the web site, that's great.

Kentgirl, Union Jack bunting is a great idea, Debsowerby pointed out that if we have our bash after the event so to speak we should be able to get lots of half price bunting sent over from the UK. smile

Thanks again for everyone's interest, all suggestions are very welcome. I will get back asap with a couple of possible dates and we will go with what works for the most people.

Hope the above all makes sense I'm typing this at work and pesky customers keep interrupiting (sp) me lol
I was just about to ask that question Deborah and you have answered it for me. grin Must be a mind reader.

If there is anything I can do for it, just let me know.

When is the actual jubilee weekend?

Can anyone come ???
Yes, becks, anyone who is british or married to a brit can come, I'm sure smile

There is a do on in NJ on Memorial weekend. A couple of families are coming over from CT and I am coming from LI to go to this one. It is at Tracey's. Just let Tracey know on the other thread.

Here I am inviting you and it isn't even at my house lol
The bunting stuff is all under control,i should have some arriving soon.
We really should set a date though, perhaps the end of June??? Hows that suit everyone? smile
