My husband has found a job that he fancies in Palo Alto, SF and would like us to move out there.
Does anybody know of the best areas that are close for houses etc. Obviously, I would prefer a garden but my husband doesn't mind commuting so we could be 45 mins - 1 hour away from Palo Alto.
Can anyone help?

The commuter traffic is legendary there.

Try San Jose, you can take the 85 up to Palo Alto and it's about 45mins. Hubby used to do that run then the offices moved to Mountain View.
Palo Alto is very expensive, but then were isn't in the Bay area, but relative speaking San Jose is good, just stay away from the east side.
OK, edited to say, only certain parts of the east side.
