I am from Yorkshire and living in Flagstaff AZ - Was wondering if there was any fellow Brits out west, it seems like most of you guys are on the East coast,
Graham - (don't see that name much here)
Ahh. Graham
I too am a yorkshire man, Donny to be precise, living in Phoenix and have done for the last 3 years. how long have you been in Flagstaff. I enjoy visiting your town, nice to get out of the city every once in a while.
Chris
Hi Chris,
Man, you moved from just down the road of me in Yorkshire to just down the road of me in AZ!!
I have been in Flagstaff just over two years now, I often come down to Phoenix since I have become a big D-Backs fan.
So what brought you over to AZ, quite a move from Donny - I came here because I married an American girl from Flagstaff.
So you will have to tell me if you have come across any British style pubs or Brit food stores down there in the big city?
Are you ready for the hot stuff, weather is gonna be heating up really fast on you pretty soon here!
Take care,
Graham
Graham,
I grew up in Donny but went to uni in Chelmsford, and also lived in Hertfordshire.
came to states after uni to work for Forest Service in Oregon, wher i met my now wife, we moved to phoenix for grad school.
I currently work for the City of Phoenix in REcreation Department.
I do know an English Food Store and also a couple of pubs here in town. How often do you visit Phoenix?
I usually go up to Flag during the summer jsut to get out of the city!!
I have really begun to enjoy Phx.
We are going to have to get together at some point!! Are you a football Fan (Soccer)?
they show the games at a pub here in town - great atmosphere.
Later
Chris

Gill, how long you been in Scottsdale?
I live in the pointe Tapatio Area of Phoenix (7th street are)This weather is getting too hot for me already - though the am's are nice before work!! smile
chris
Hi Chris and Gill,
I come down to Phoenix a few times a year.
Yes, I am a football fan, Leeds is my team which is probably no great surprise!
Yeah would definately be interested in getting together at some point over a few beers to watch some football, got the world cup matches coming up too!! or even over a few beers if you find yourselves up this way.
Gill, not too sure where that came from but no i have never sold porsches in Leeds.
Chris, I too lived in hertfordshire for a while, Burnham Green, Welwyn Garden City to be precise.
Yeah the weather and the green is somewhat more pleasant up here but it can get real windy at times which gets old really fast.
Anyway stay in touch...
Graham
sorry Graham but you have got a namesake in Leeds who used to sell porsches and other cars, i once bought a beamer off him.Any way he sold the business and went on his way......you sure you're not really him and tax mans after you lol Hello Chris i've been in scottsdale since end of january....moved here to join me old man who opened up a office here for his bosses back in sheffield
Gill you have only been there since january, you are in for a shock when summer kicks in proper, even though you know what the temperatures are gonna be, it is another thing experiencing them - oh well you can fry an egg right on the pavement anytime you feel the need! lol
no mate am prepared, i've been visiting here for the last 12 yrs.....soon the secret will be, to only go out when the sun goes down or stay indoors cool ...so far the only months i havent been here are november and december
well, i lived in Ware, Herfordshire and fell in love with the place infact i went back to visit with my wife this christmas.
just sat with the doors open looking over North Mountain feeling the cool breeze blow through the house - got to love this weather, but i still miss the cold winter weather - i think it is the fact that dress is too casual when it is hot, where as all my smart clothes are suited to the cold weather!!
Graham you'll have to let me know when you come down and we'll grab a beer?
Chris
ooooh that sounds wonderful! i'll prey for rain Chris, so you can dust off your posh suit and tip toe all the way thru the rain drops to the bar lol lol lol lol
Chris definitely will let you know, no immediate plans at the moment, working on constructing a new garage - but should be headed that way pretty soon if only to catch a d-backs game

Sorry, I must have been sleeping, I missed your original post, Graham. I'm also in Phoenix, and also work for the City of Phoenix, like Chris, but I'm with the Police Department. Could the world possibly be any smaller? Haven't been up to Flag recently, but envy you your summers. On the other hand, I work graveyards, and Gill is right, if you don't go out till the sun goes down, it's bearable. Been here over 20 years now, I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.
