I thought I read in a thread here that Newsnight is broadcast over here. Anyone know the details?

You can watch it on the internet.

I gather it has been shown on CSPAN - but I don't know whether it is a regular thing or whether it was a special of some kind.

Newsnight is one of the things I miss most about the UK - Paxman's maxim about interviewing politicians - "why is this lying shit lying to me" should be etched into the minds of all political interviewers.

I'd like to see Jeremy Paxman tell Barbara Walters what a rank amateur she is.

I looked at the C-Span website - there is no mention of Newsnight, but a google search revealed references to it on a couple of blogs. so I emailed C-Span to ask whether they do and when - I'll let you know if i get a reply.

Newsnight is shown on C-Span 2, as well as Prime Minister's Question Time. It isn't listed in the programming but I seem to always stumble over it every week. PMQT is on C-Span 2 tomorrow (Tueday) morning at 7am. The scheduling on the C-Span website isn't great for the schedule, but if you check it late in the day you might catch Newnight listed. I think it's on Weds or Thrus nights.

As for Newsnight, one look at it shows you a) how pathetic US politicians are, and b) how much better Paxman is than anyone over here.

Ive watched Newsnight a couple of times on C-Span. It was on last week and it was also on after the presidential election. It was worth watching just to see Paxman do his 'Youre in a bit of a mess arent you?' interview wink
