I have just cancelled my satellite service. I was fed up with paying $48 per month so my daughter could watch cartoons on 30 channels. I was put through to a account rep type person, who started with "Now sir, let me ask you...."
I interrupted him and screamed "Don't you DARE offer me any more programmes, why do you think it is better for me NOT to watch 120 channels, as against NOT watching 80??"
He was very kind and arranged for me to receive my local channels for $4.99 per month. As I live on the side of a mountain and antenna's do not work around here, I was happy!!!
We chose not to get the tv hooked up to any channels when we started here, and don't miss it one bit. News off the internet, dvds when we want them and no commercial breaks ) fantastic!
Welcome, my friend to the show that never ends ....real life! lol
Oh how the kids moaned when I pulled the plug cry Boo hoo, no more Nickelodeon & disney channel, big meanie mum etc.
Devastating D
I couldn't live without BBC News, BBCC and the daily dose of Emmerdale and Corrie. (Thank god for dvr recorders)
Strange thing is I never watched this sh**e when I lived back at home.

We do that too! It's great isn't it. Her occasionally hooks up the antennae to see if there's anything good on. After about 30 minutes she turns it off and declares it all crap.
well I was getting used to my new programming choices last night, I am very grateful that they are few and far between. I watched 1/2 an episode of '24', watched CSI Miami, had a laugh at the local news, which I hadn't seen in 2 years
"In Salt Lake City tonight....its cloudy...special report"
Then I watched the BBC NEWS on channel 7 and Waiting for God and 'Allo 'Allo.
Got to bed fairly late and the missus asked what I was doing. Told her I had to acclimatise myself to the new programming. She thinks I am fairly odd. Oh..and I walked the dog. I must admit the only thing I will miss are the repeats of West Wing and the new series of Battlestar Galactica, but I am sure one of the networks is going to pick that up.
