8) With everything happening in the world today, can you really put your hand on your heart and say yes , you really care.
Or are they just points of interest, to make a mental note of.
I tend to think people are in the don't care section. As long as it does not effect them. They are ok. When it does get around to effecting them, as a whole, its abit late to do anything about it
It's always been the same.
The main difference in todays world, is we are bombarded with so many stories of tragedy in our living rooms we have become hardened.
Occaisionally the extraordinary event takes place that may be closer to home or effect someone we know and we jump on the giving bandwagon.

Great answer Keith, I totally agree.
If it happens within my life then I generally care and try and do something positive about it.
If it's something that just happens on the news, I notice I can casually ignore it. This is nothing to be proud of but television news has really turned me off to the plight of my fellow man.
This probably doesn't sound very nice but I dislike people profiting from disaster and tragedy and don't buy into its packaged sale.
Yes. Honestly, I hear about the Tsunami and I think it's a shame and everything but it's hard to really feel anything in my heart because it's detatched. I practically never watch TV so I've not seen any TV coverage, only numbers on a website go up and up. That doesn't even have the same impact as when my cat whines for food.
Sounds bad but I reckon that's just part of human nature. Easier to relate to something near to you.
I agree the previous posters Keith ,Pilgrim and Scramble when you put the whole of what they said together have got it exactly right .
cynicism also has a part in how we react to bad news /desasters local or internationally , we all know of warm and caring folks the world over ( transending all religious and political affiliations ) giving of themselfs till it hurts to only hear weeks down the road that the$$$ they so selfishly donated have somehow found there way intothe pockets of underserving third parties .
Will we ever be able to reverse that trend ... no .....human nature
large internationally run relief/charityorganisations in my opinion dont cut it and that applys to govt run charities as well .
The best way to support a cause you think worthwhile is to pysically be a part of it .
I know many of us in those cercumstances cannot do that unfortunatly , but i have found in my experiance that any charity / relief effort I pertake in has less chance of being abused if im personally part of it .
8) Don't just think about earth quakes and the like, expand this some more. Lets say a law or something suddenly comes about. It does not seem to impact you, so you carry on, then all of a sudden your the one on the end of the line.
Those worlds, if only someone would have done something about this.
If we really didn't care, this forum would be much emptier than it is.

Agreed.
I do care, always did. But accept there are many things that I can have little direct impact on. Those that I can I hit full force :o - which is why I do what I do and will do in the future.
