Does anyone know of any stores that sell them? and if they are called a different name here maybe?

It might help if you described what you are after. Do you want a Black Forest Gateau? If so, you're probably out of luck, but if you're not up to making one, you could cobble one up with a bought chocolate cake, some whipped cream and black cherry jam.....

Try the bulk sales stores like Sams Club. They sell some wicked chocolate cakes.
Trader Joes seemed to have a good selection

Try http//www.traderjoes.com/locations/search/WASHINGTON.asp for locations. There are some in Seattle.
Our local Shoprite and Acme supermarkets do them too. Though more often there's more frosting on them than there is cake roll
Just a plain old British Chololate Gatoe..with lots of chocolate fillings!!! Not 90% chololate Sponge!!!

Make your own then. Just put a really good recipe up on the thread for chocolate birthday cake. You can double the filling for extra and it works well if you do this. :)

but the Brits don't call chocolate cake "gateau" unless it's a black forest one -?
What the heck is a "plain old British Chololate Gatoe" when it's at home? Please submit photograph of same.
Probably one of those moments where you have lived here too long and can't remember the proper words lol

Or lived in the UK too long and don't know they used to just be called chocolate cakes.

Yes..sorry 'gateau' is how it is spelt...I'm a Geordie if that explains anything....

Anyone got a good recipe or know what where I can buy one from???
