So I had my adjustment of status interview on 4/11 as I wrote about earlier. Imagine my suprise at getting home from the new house I closed on yesterday and seeing an envelope post marked Mesquite that clearly had a credit card sized item inside it.
That's right, you guessed it my green card arrived. And as Nigel pointed out when he got his, it aint green. It is however the same as the conditional card I had except it is valid for 10 years.
I am amazed. My whole dealings with the INS started in December of 98. I had my interview and health exam at the embassy in April 99 and moved here on May 21st 1999. At that point, my wife and I hired an attorney who cost us approximately $1500 for the entire ride. My first conditional green card was issued in October of 99 and now I have the full 10 year job. I feel I have had good experience with INS, even though I had to stand in line a few times at the service center. I can't help but attribute this success to the fact I hired an attorney. I highly recommend mine, if you live in N. Texas send me a message and I'll provide his details.
That's two things that happened to me yesterday, the closing took a little over 20 minutes and I got my green card. I'm thinking that I should buy a lottery ticket this weekend.
