Just finished watching the presidential inaugural cerimony on tv .
It finished with a rousing speach about freedom for all from president BUSH and was emotionally one of the best i have ever listened to .
May his second term be sucessful and full of goodwill, and achieve a better life and freedom for all peoples world wide .

...and Lord Lucan ride Shergar through the streets of a free and democratic Pyongyang
People who judge these things say that his first inaugural speech was one of the best ever.... it all went downhill from there and it will this time.

My arse!! may his 2nd term end up with him being dumped. The Daily show last night was reporting from D.C. The City is being asked to come up with 12 million dollars for extra security for this imbecile. One citizen said "We voted 9 - 1 against this idiot and we have to put up with great street party".
One other black guy was complaining about the event and the interviewer said "but the republicans throw parties"
the guy replied "so did the KKK"
precious....
George Bush..meeting the expectations of his own inadequacies.

HE Cant run again two terms is all the constitution allows .
The inaugaration is peformed in dc as that is the seat of govt and the capital its nothing to do with what party he represents even though dc voted against him the country voted him in by a 2 % majority .DC profits by the vast number of folks who come to the event and book hotel rooms , rent cars , eat food etc

I think the point is John that DC doesn't feel the benefit - which isn't suprising; many Bostonians didn't feel much benefit from having Kerry's convention here and any benefit there was was outweighed by the sheer inconvenience.
As to dumping George II - if we do that we get Cheney, followed by the ethically challenged Denny Hastert.... better the devil we know I'm afraid. Besides we now get four years of the Republicans fighting like ferrets in a sack and with no plausible reason for blaming the Dems. Might be fun after all :D
The Bush dynasty will continue with Jeb... roll
If I ever hear the term Freedom City or Freedom Capital or Freedom Capital of the world again I will puke.
The Bush dynasty will continue with Jeb...
That's clearly the plan - hence his wholly unnecessary visit to Asia to look at the aftermath of the Tsunami. (which was apparently a lot worse than anything he'd seen in Florida  ).
But the plan may not have huge support beyond the Bush compound in Kennebunkport - even within the Republican Party. There are others, from a myiad of factions, who want a go at playing comander in chief and they will all be fighting their corner... fun, fun, fun
His emphasis on bringing freedom in the rest of the world is a little strange when you consider that many Americans have a less free country since he took office.
I was listening to a radio phone in this lunch time and one commentator made what may appear to be true for the future.
He felt that America has streched itself so badly that if there were to be another country that needed freeing, the US military would be incapable of any long term action.
We in the rest of the world can only hope that the next four years will be more peaceful. We don't want a repeat of the last four.
.....and why and how does this cost 40 million dollars?
Answers please on a postcard addressed to any poor starving kid in Africa.

Or even on the streets of DC will do......
I'm sure he'll be up for a primary.
Hillary vs. Jeb 2008
The amount of relief money given to Florida compared with that given to the tsunami victims is a joke. But then Sri Lanka or Indonesia weren't swing states....

From what I've read, Jeb has already ruled out 2008... but will consider a run in 2012 - which might say something about how the Bushies perceive Republican chances at the next Presidential Election.

I think Rob eastend boy was talking about dumping him after 4 years and of course he will be DUMPED as far as running again goes .
Yes your right about boston the average joe doesnt see and and in most cases ) doesnt get any benefits for living in a town that hosts any sort of high cost event of any kind (dem / .rep )or other wise . i was talking form the CITY point of view not the individual :D
.As far as dumping BUSH before the 4 years are up I agree with you chaney would be a desaster for the nation, but that (short of death) wont happen ,as he wont run for president next time and if he does i would think he would face defeat .
Yes as always the term was disapointing as most presidential terms are and this time it does fall as you say fully on BUSH.S shoulders, as they have a clear majority (in both houses ) to do as they please .
Hoping he wont fall flat on his face but i have a open mind and wil JUDGE the performance when we get to election time in 2008 .
Im sure you hope for a successfull and properous country even thou you are firmly in the tent of the *other party * :D

Actually John, both the mainstream American parties are far too right wing for me
