Lock up your sons, Spongebob is coming to a school near you with his insidious message of tolerence and understanding... and lets face it if we had tolerence and understanding where would we all be - no fear, no hysteria, no randomly invading other countries and plundering their resources....

There's also an article about this in today's NYT. You probably have to register to view this link (but if you aren't already, register darn it, it's one of the only papers in the US worth reading).

what a load of twaddle......... it amazes me that not only do they come up with this stuff but they do it in the most public places. They'll be trying to pull the emperor's new clothes stunt next......
Conservative quote
"We see the video as an insidious means by which the organization is manipulating and potentially brainwashing kids," he said. "It is a classic bait and switch."
Oh dear me roll This sound like the sort of stuff Lambeth Coucillors would say circa 1984 when discussing Nursery Rhymes D
They make Patrick Star look quite intelligent really......
What next? Attacks on Sandy Cheeks?
Well it's a bit late in the day but I only discovered Sponge Bob a few months back and i can honestly say I'm feeling a little bit queer now I come to think of it. wink
This guy is probably right
"Mark Barondeso told the newspaper that anyone who thought the video promoted homosexuality "needs to visit their doctor and get their medication increased".
Sludge, I was about to post the same quote - THAT one made me laugh out loud! lol
OK, the two main problems appear to be:
1) Spongebob holds hands with Patrick
2) Male homosexuals love the show.
Hmmmmmmm
children love the show too ....does that mean it'll also turn people into pedophiles?

I think to these crackpot conservatives - 'pedophiles' and 'gays' are synonomous - and apparently cartoon characters.
On behalf of Tinky Winky I would like to say Sponge Bob is not a gay icon. Not as gay as Tinky regards....
8) Did'nt they say all this about captain Pugwash lol.
Some people have to much time on their hands lol

Sadly the Pugwash story is an urban myth - no Seaman Staines, or Roger the Cabin Boy.
Although I've no doubt Consevative Christians would devine some wierd conspiracy theory from it. Lord knows what they'd make of the Magic Roundabout with it's hippy bunny and 'sugar' snorting dog
Actually, for a bit of fun, perhaps I should enail them my concerns :P
