you think the KK is bigoted until you read this little gem.

What are you trying to stir up now, John? If you knew the first thing about genuine Christianity you would know that these people are bigots, not Christian.

This is taken from the website of the church I attend:

Quote:
Mount Olivet is committed to welcoming into fellowship and membership, everyone who will share our profession of faith, without regard to sex, marital status, age, race, sexual orientation, abilities, or other human distinctions.

When you are looking for Christianity online - look for the real thing.

Nice try John, but picking out a minority and saying; "Behold, all of you are like this because they are" doesn't make you very bright...
John I'm an atheist - and can get fairly militant about it (as old posts will reveal).

But giving the 'oxygen of publicity' to site like this serves no good purpose. I've known plenty enough Chrisitians to know that this sort of bigotry is nothing to do with most of them - especially the gay ones roll

Indeed I suspect christians would regard this sort of stuff as profoundly unchristian.

Presuming we can't identify the physical location of the creeps behind this site and thus visit them with pitchforks and flaming torches in hand - I think it is better to regard them with the content they deserve and move on.
We can in fact locate thses folks whey are from a church in kansas and appear regularly om national talk radio ( shirley **dont know last name *and her daughters ) they are living flesh and blood and not a figment of somebodies trouble making .

never did say they where the norm as far as christians go just posted it as a thread that might for verious reasons get some feedback .

im not making the assumption that thses folks are *TRUE christians * they are .
They propose that they are speaking on behalf of and carry the word and actions of jesus .. take it up with them i thinkyou will find a disagreement with what you declare as christianity and there version of it sort it our amounst yourselfs .

I'm a republican who speaks on behalf of president bush and we all believe that the US government should introduce a free national health service and raise taxes to 50% to ensure that it is they best and provides for everybody. Also, gay marriage should not only be legalised but endorsed as a form of population control and the drinking age should be lowered to 16 across the nation. We were wrong about Iraq.

Get of your high horse and read the heading carefully .

You can assume what you like ( most people do) ,but dont put words in my mouth .

I t wasnt cyptic , no hidden meaning or accusation just a statment as to what these folks CLAIMING to be christians preach .

I didnt say it applies to all christians or in fact suggested it applies to all christians ,anymore then the hatred off the KKK aplies to anyone other then themselves , as an example

As for being bright im a lot smarter than you cus the very posting of the thread got you to respond .

Or are you suggesting that no member should post any contraversal subject matter on this board ??

if you are i suggest you look at the many Threads and the forum title under which is was posted

HEHEHE

Well that should make for a lively discussion with some folks

PS are you trying to hijack my thread ?/ you would,nt of doing such a thing now would you Monster ? :) :( :o :-? 8)

8) The trouble is there are bigots from every single minority group the world over. The trouble is they tend to get all the press and all of a sudden, everyone that is even associated with a particular cause, suddenly becomes and extremist.

If you were a member of say, green peace and say the animal liberation folks, all of a sudden knocked some poor ass off. In the press over here, you are one of the same.

Same as if you don't support a war, you are a traitor.

Sad really, that the minority seem to upset the apple cart for the rest of society.

I would gladly take it up with them. However my argument is with your "hate preaching christians" title which, as you know, is inflammatory in the context of introducing us to that website and suggests to us that you accept that they speak on behalf of all Christians.

So.... why not change the title of this thread to something else if you'd rather we discuss the contents of that website than your choice of words?

What she said (much nicer than I could).

If you'd like to discuss the role of gays in the church then we can if you'd like to?

That's Fred Phelps - Topeka's most tolerant and open-minded minister.

There are a whole bunch of godhates sites...

/Wish I had a site saying godhatesfredphelps.com
Did you actually try entering that address? You may be surprised...
