I am finally ditching satellite and cable. I will have to do with the antenna. I cannot stand the crap that is put on any longer. I am paying nearly $50 a month to tape a few programmes on BBC AMERICA and for my daughter to Oh So Raven and Sister, Sister 48 times a day. Daughter will throw a fit. I will tell her she can watch nature programs on PBS.
You're a brave lad. If my daughter didn't watch Sister Sister, Lizzie Magure, That's So Raven etc 48 times per day (they do repeat those damn episodes) she might actually talk to me instead.
My bill has gone up yet again so I'm tempted too.

Trouble is I can't pry myself away from the basketball and I'd be royally screwed without PPV for FA Cup games like the one this Saturday.

Why can't you get it and just pay-per-view?

Mate, in a month you'll be begging to have cable installed. WB, UPN and Fox will have you pulling your hair out. CBS and NBC - do you know how many forensic science cop shows there are?

/anyone wanting to take odds?

Eastendboy - very brave but a tale of caution - I used to work with a guy who did not have any TV in his house and he found that as his son grew up he was never at home, always at someone else's house watching TV, so much so that he got a TV and the SKy to go with it just so he could see more of his kid
We just have the local channels (which are free on cable as we have internet from them -rather than through the antenna but same diff). Never regretted it.
Many Britnet and Global Combat regulars may feel differently about that, though ;) I don't watch any telly at all.
I ditched cable and satelite since I moved into my own place last April. I was trying to reduce my monthly fees and figured I would last until the beginning of the English footie season.

Turned out I didn't miss it at all, I hardly ever watch TV now and I just rent DVDs when I have nothing else to do. And as far as the Premiership goes, I have Brit pubs if I need them - but I hardly miss it at all since I took an interest in the A-League.
We watched an excellent movie on Bravo last night "Focus" not the type of movie you will find on the cicuits. Most movies on Bravo in Canada also only have one half way add.

In an apartment you have little choice. Our unit face's south, away from the local antenna's on the north side, so reception is very poor. But I do enjoy the selection of speciality cable stations.
We ditched it all in June due to kids lying in front of Nickelodeon all day long. They moan about it but still manage to lie infront of tv. This time they are more likely to watch Animal Planet though. I miss Larry King but I can still get American Idol and the Oscars. D
