I bought 2 chicken cordon bleu portions from Whole Foods yesterday for $17. They were for myself and Him tonight.
There were no cooking instructions so I just left them in for about 45 mins, took them out, the cheese was everywhere, cut them open and they seemed fine.
We sat down for our nice xmas eve dinner, tried to cut them properly and noticed there was string/elastic around each portion. We removed the elastic (I was embarrassed), ate some and then Him noticed that at the side of the inside of his portion was a big piece of rolled over chicken breast that was still uncooked. I took it right away from him and put it back in the oven. I cut into mine more, found a piece of what I can only assume is that sort of rind that they put around chesse (it's like a piece of wax paper with writing on) and that part of mine was sort of doubled over chicken breast that wasn't cooked all the way through. I had eaten some of that area.
Of course we both now have totally lost our appetites, I am so upset that our meal was ruined.
Am I naive? Should I have known there would be elastic around my food? (I've never had chicken cordon bleu before) is it usual to fold the thing over so much that you'd end up with big chunks of chicken breast all the way on the inside?
I am fuming and upset. Should I complain to Whole Foods and ask for my $17 back? We must have eaten 2 mouthfuls each...
