Anyone know of any stores in Mass. which stock Walls sausages or any type of proper sausages? Or if you know of a online store that will deliver to your door, that'd be good too. Around christmas I always have a hankering for good proper grub. Probably from being home from work for a few days and living off heinz beans on toast )
You can live in hope. I have found one local brand to be passable but having just spent 20 minutes trying to remember the name I am still drawing a blank. Will let you know when it hits me.
Piccadilly?
Myers of Keswick in NYC do shipping and they make their own sausages. Very good too. They also do scottish pies. There are also stores in NJ (Kearney) that do sausages. Don't know if they ship or not)

I think Myers are on the front page search thingy of Britnet)

As for the nearest thing - we have found Jones and Jimmy Dean to be the nearest thing. Jones are quite spicy like Lincolnshire sausages.
I remembered the name..... actually I only had to look in my fridge (forgot they were there ) Leroux - based in Holden, Mass - their sausages can be found in Shaws and Stop and Shop.

Ben - I have never tried Jimmy dean - perhaps I should!
if you have a Whole Foods up there, they do lovely Irish Bangers
Using the term "Walls" and "Proper" in the same sentence should be illegal...

They're half cereal...

Make you're own. It's a doddle. Or find a good butcher and ask them to make them to your own recipe....

oh I dream of it...

I have a source for proper bangers here in Wisconsin if anyone wants it....a butcher by trade from Harrogate, makes his own, no preservatives. He can ship them too.
come on then share - are they really good?
I got some bangers brought down by some friends who live on Cape Cod. Think they're made by Thomas McCann and Co. Anyway, they're luvverly!

bollocks. proper sausages do include a fair whack of cereal. otherwise they'd just taste like minced meat with a few herbs ...which is fine if that's what you want but it ain't proper sausages.

:P

I buy *harold woods *english bangers made locally in houston to be quite tasty and pretty near the real thing .

Yep, my school job was in a butcher's shop and every Thursday we made sausages for the nect week. They are, infact about 1/3 cereal and then equal portions of fat and meat with spices and water to bind them together. Then putting the stuff into skins and tying them up into links - great fun!
