Ummmm. How quick do you build a trust factor in your dealings with people.
I can say that I do not trust alot of people here, compared to the UK. I don't know if thats just me or what lol. There are far more, what I class as fair weathered friends here, than real friends here.

No kidding, they're American.
you have to hang in for a year, work at it, make it clear you're not interested in buying anything and just want friendship. It works. A true friend here is just as rare as those back home, not counting all those barstewards back home who quit contacting you after a year away but suddenly are your best friend when they want a cheap holiday.
Remember, the folk here are possibly immigrants too, or at least 2nd generation, and just as untrusting as you. D
I think trust is most rationally based on knowledge - if you know someone you are better qualified to know if you can trust them and with what.
If you live in a particular community or society where you are familiar with people, you feel more confidant in making a judgement about trust. The reverse is the case when you are in an unfamiliar environment.
Bizzarely the situation is not always the same with Americans dealing with Brits. I very experienced trial lawyer recently advised that I pursue a career in that direction because American juries tend to believe that the English never lie. o lol
