So, now that Gunga Dan is leaving the CBS news (about frikking time) who should replace him? Someone equally barking mad maybe? Someone who people might actually watch? Someone who doesn't finish each broadcast by saying "Courage...."? Maybe someone who deosn't have a history of making the news up as they go along? Any ideas? And should he be kicked off 60 Minutes as well? (who seem to have a longer life peerage than the Supreme Court does)

I wouldn't mind Lester Holt making the move from NBC. Good man. Better on MSNBC tho.
Gavin, you're the man for the job D
God no, I'm not bonkers enough. I have a fairly large ego, but to have the breathtaking arrogance of a Rather or a Brokaw is something I could never achieve no matter how hard I might try. I might be able to use some folksy regional nonsense like Rather does ("that dog don't hunt" or "I wouldn't touch that with a 13 foot pole, the pole I use for things I wouldn't touch with a 12 foot pole" and such). Though of course it'd be working class British rhetoric. Something like "Scott Peterson didn't look impressed in court today. In fact he looked like a dog chewing a wasp, or like someone who has just realized his coffee has been pissed in." That sort of thing. I would love to get to ask the questions during a debatet hough. None of this being nice crap, I wouldn't care if they never gave it to me again. I may even squirt them with a water pistol. "Had enough yet Mr President? Mr Kerry? Huh!? Well have you? The next question will be asked by a Mr Artest...(violence follows)."

Seriously tho, with Joe "Pajamahadeen" Klein taking over CNN, we need someone decent.
I think you're selling yourself short Gavin - you seem to have the touch.
As for the debates, I was disapointed they didn't have someone like Paxman do them - rather than the pathetic soft ball approach we got to see.
Glad to see him go.

Never got over his obnoxious interview of Bush Snr in 1988.
