I was just going through another bout of homesickness and I was looking at the BBC Midlands website.
This maybe a little obscure for some people here but I was wondering if anyone remembers the BBC Pebble Mill studios which are in Edgbaston in Birmingham?

Shows like The Archers, All Creatures Great And Small (this is shown on our local PBS), Top Gear, Gardners World (remember Percy Thrower?) Howards Way, Juliet Bravo, The Clothes Show, Good Morning With Anne and Nick, Can't Cook Wont Cook, Telly Addicts, Call My Bluff, Dalziel And Pascal, Countryfile, Groundforce and a load more TV programmes and a lot more national and local radio programmes.

My particular favourite show from there was Pebble Mill at One, which was a nationally televised lunchtime show with chat and music. If I was off school then I'd watch this show with my mum, and to me as a young kid it was funny to watch, they'd be celebs and also a little musical number too wink

Pebble Mill was opened in 1971, and I knew it was going to be vacated sooner or later but back a few months ago it had it's last Midlands Today show. It makes me feel old when I realise how old that building was!! o I was so chuffed to see the studios when I worked up in Brum for the first time!! I feel like it was the end of an era for me for some reason?

Apparently its going to be demolished and maybe for some of the shows its spawned it should have been blown up years ago!! wink
Any shows there which you liked or should Howard's Way be left in the rubble of Pebble Mill?
I must admit I loved All Creatures Great And Small, and maybe Call My Bluff, but I think Juliet Bravo was more of a nightmare!! wink

here's the list of some of the programmes-

I associate Pebble Mill with being sick as the only time I watched it was when I was off sick from school. So I can't really say that my memories of it are quite as fond.
I sometimes watched Pebble Mill at One too. Never gave it a thought until now.

Happy memories of being hooked on Howard's Way though. remember the big shoulder pads? It was like the Dallas/Dynasty of England.
I used to work in the chippy near Pebble Mill. Got a few "celebs" in there, especilally on Children In Need nights.
Funny , but I only associate it with being off school sick too. My Mum used to watch it after the midday news. Comparing it to daytime tv nowadays, it was quality.
Saturday Night At The Mill was good too! )

Ah, I'm afraid I was a Richard & Judy and then Light lunch with sue and mel person myself! :)

I remember Pebble Mill, too but I have nothing interesting to add except that my Grandma used to watch it.

Though come to think of it, somehow I remember seeing a clip of Catherine Zeta Jones being interviewed on that show and she looked really different to how she looks now!

Anyone remember that other afternoon tv show Crown Court? My Mum used to watch that.
Ive watched Crown Court quite a few times!!
The falls neatly into the sick day off school category!! wink
Remember the intro music for it?

Pebble Mill At One was gone before Richard & Judy and even Light Lunch. Was the show Light Lunch cancelled by Channel 4?

I remember watching pebble mill when I was off school sick cos it came on just after rainbow and all that other good kiddy stuff, Alan Titchmarsh bothered me he was too damn chirpy for a sick day. Mum!! Fetch me the bowl and some lucazade!!! I used to enjoy chigly, Mr. men, Mr ben, Bod, Pipkins (the pig gave me nightmares, as did bungle from rainbow;-) Tony hart, that guy had me mesmerised as a kid, I often sent in my artwork to the gallery, never got featured though, never got it back either. We both later became involved in a serious headline law suit because he refused to send my artwork back, my lawyer recently caught the bastard selling it on ebay from a laptop as he and morph frolicked on a lilo in Belize. Should a known. Good artist but he hated kids.
Yep, Pebble Mill at One is something I associate with sickies - followed by Crown Court.
Yeah, I remember Pebble Mill.....and then there was the infamous Crossroads and Benny's hat !!!!!.......I think they tried to re-vamp Crossroads a few years ago, but for some reason (cant think why) not many people watched it lol
