8) I heard that John kerry gets a secret service guy, to baby sit him for the rest of his life. Does Edwards get the same???

Plus think about how much all this is costing and why should he get one?
They are the ones that chose to run for public office and its not like he does not have a bob or two to pay for his own security.

Would not like to see the Bill for the President etc etc .
Why not? The Saudi emabassy and Prince Bandar bin Sultan get Secret Service protection - at least Kerry is an American.
Not much of a secret though, is it?

I refer you to the term "Military Intelligence" ;)

*ducks as DNAwolf hurls transatlantic clogs in a Michigandan direction*
OK if you want to run for office, don't you take the risks on. So why should jo public pay for it?????

Because Joe Public is not willing to take the risks or run for office themselves.

I think you're on a one man mission here Goose.
I can understand lifetime protection for ex-presidents but I don't agree that ex-candidates should get one. I suppose Nader, Badnarik, Perouktka and Cobb also have SS protection?
8) I am trying tp build and compare here. Back home we jumped all over the queen, about the cost of her own private flights, royal yacths trains etc etc etc. These people just run for office and lost. where does it stop. You give it to judges, ex police officers etc.

Are you sure? I thought it ends as soon as you don't win. I don't think former candidates get it.

8) thats why I am asking the question, because I was watching TV and they were saying "that at least he gets a Secret service agent to look after him now"
He is a Senator.

Also there is a big difference in the level of protection between the secret service police and the plain clothed secretive servicey body guard type.
