I was there for you John, at the last minute I decided to drop everything and drive to RFK stadium to see DC United play the Revolution in the Eastern Conference Final. And boy am I glad I did!

I did not get to the stadium until half-time and it was 2-2. My friend and I were slightly pi$$ed that we missed four goals, but what the heck! At least we would get to see someone win. The second half was amazing, both teams playing good attacking football, when DC score the crowd roared (and I was in the so called quiet end). And then they chanted all night, even after the Revs equalized (which I secretly hoped for to get full value for my ticket).

The penalty shoot-out was tense, I would have hated to be a hardcore DC fan. Especially when it went to sudden death. I was talking to my friend and turned around just in time to see Nick Rimando make the game winning save! The crowd went crazy.

So John, for one night I was a DC fan - starting chants and willing the team to victory. Congrats! You should be making plans to get to LA next week.
When we went we used to hang with the *screaming eagles* the fanatic fans who are always there rain or shine and one or two of the hispanic members isually bring drums and keep up a constant beat .

Iwould like to go to see the final in LA but funds being as they are its not posible to go and do everything one would wish.

Our vacation to DC is already plannned for this week and cant be refunded , just could,nt get arrangment to coenside with the DC game last sat .
Shame! The Eagles and Barra Brava definitely rocked the house on Saturday night. In fact, the whole stadium was rocking - it was easily as good as any staduim atmosphere I've been to in any country.
It should be pretty good at LA too.
At least when they designed the stadium they took a few tips from Jurgen the german who told them to have that overhanging roof for a better fan atmosphere!! I wonder if he thought of White Hart Lane? wink
The MLS cup final was pretty good yesterday. I thought Kansas started okay, they got a good early goal, but DC took over after that!! Eskandarian scored 2 goals (one with a very dodgy handball) and an own goal. In the second half Kovalenko was sent off for an hilarious handball on the goal line (which was everybit as good as Muzzy Izzit's handball from this weekend wink ) so Kansas scored but they couldnt break down the 10 men of DC United. So DC walk away with the title and thinking back to the first game of the season I would never have thought they were anywhere near being the league playoff winners. But, thats the beauty of playoffs I suppose?
Yeah, definitely a fun game to watch. Once DC stepped up a gear I thought they were going to dominate. But then the handball followed by a PK made things interesting again. I don't like the play-off system in MLS - 8 out of 10 teams seems a little odd, but 8 out of 12 is a little better for next year.

At least now I can say the Richmond Kickers KO'd the MLS Champions out of the Open Cup )
I thought Kansas would win easily judging by their performance over the season. Can't say DC were the best team this season though. I do think they need to do something about the format. Right, it will be better with 8/12 teams qualifying, but I still think its a bit naff to play a whole season just to get in the playoffs of which 2 thirds of the teams qualify anyway.
Twas a shame i missed the final would have flown to calif to see it had i not already had a vacation to DC arranged for that weekend to see my beloved REDSKINS play ,

They f**king lost and it was a loussy game but the vacation was good ,saw all my old brit friends in the DC area

Consolation even thou the Redskins lost ( now they have a new starting quaterback ) . DC holds the MLS CUP which they have won 4 out of the 9 seasons MLS has been in operation ..and more important than that ........CHELSEA are still top of the premier ......... GO BLUES
