Hello all! I'm from Chicago and my husband is from Shropshire, where we are living now. I've been a member of the American Expats website and have always gotten some great advice from my fellow members, I'm hoping maybe someone here can help as well... (please move this to another board if it's more appropriate there?)
My husband works for HM Customs & Excise, and is quite a VAT expert. We'd love to move back to Chicago, but since my husband's job is so UK-specific we can't find work for him in Chicago. Big problem! Does anyone know of any firms in the States who could use a VAT man? Or any kind of man, I suppose. Mom is getting desperate for me to come home and my husband is fearing that Gordon Brown is soon to give him the axe anyway, so it's looking like a good time to jump ship and return to the US.
