More than 120 firearms officers in London are refusing to carry guns after two colleagues were suspended over a shooting, police representatives claim.

I remember this case very well, was back 1999, when some some guy was shot and killed, because he pointed a chair leg at armed officers. The objected was in a plastic bag at the time, the information they had was he had a gun and if he pointed the item at the Officer, I would say he had a right to firer.

Its a hard enough job as it is. Everyone can can be soooooooooo wise after the event. To me I regret that the guy died, but I support the Officers for doing what they done. After all they have to live with what they done and thats going to haunt them for a long time.
Don't you think you would be a bit pi$$ed off if you or your wife were carrying a chair leg home and were fatally shot?
8) I totally agree with you Moo. I understand that, but it was an accident.
I remember this well too as it was in South Hackney I believe and I lived nearby. I totally support the police officers on this one.

They are well trained and they need to know that they can do their jobs without thinking they might suffer consequences if they shoot someone.....that's what all the training is about. If you get a call of someone with a gun and aprehend them at night, from a distance and they pull out something long and point it at you....you shoot them. If you're the one doing the pointing of said long thing, then you're stupid for doing so and I have no sympathy for you.
