o Why does it appear to be that so many women fall pregnant here, whilst not in any real type of relationship and why don't those fathers of the kids, stepup and take care of there offspring.

We have friends that are not in any type of relationship, but still use no method to stop becoming pregnant. Leaves me somewhat confussed. Always thought people pulled that stunt to get free housing in the UK. But here you would get no real help. Is it a sign of the times.
Even in a casual relationship I would be making sure someone was covered. so that no one got pregnant, Geeze my mum would have killed me if I come home and told her she was gonna be a gran lol.

What you've now turned off the telly and are listening to too much right-wing radio?

How about the fact that at home you could get free contraception, whereas here it costs as arm and a leg over here.

Plus the whole lack of sex education in schools.

Although saying that, I am not sure if there is that much of a difference at home as there is here, its just that my social circle has changed alot in the past 10 years.
Condoms don't seem to cost that much here, although I admit they are only about 98% effetive.

Most HMO's cover a large portion of birth control pills from my limited experiences...
My HMO doesn't cover anything, so I pay $220 a year, for what I got free at home.

Goose *has* been watching Fox News.

I dunno, I saw a lot of "unwed mothers" in the UK. Plus in the UK abortion is something not really talked about but done quite often. In this town you have to go to an abortion clinic rather than to a hospital which often has a bunch of loonies outside harrassing people.
lol Naaaa I did not get that from any TV. They are government Stats.

I watch Fox, so I can get the right wing side of things, but thats all taken in with the Left and the middle of the road stuff, both TV newpapers etc and various other sites that I tend to look at.

I always kick Fox news report when its on because it always does lean to the right lol Hope that makes you feel better lol

Your experiences are obviously more limited than you think.
It is much more likely here that any kind of insurance not just HMO's do not cover birth control.
The people who may need them the most are the least likely to get them either because they are not covered or the deductables mean they would have to ay for them amyway.

BTW Not everyone has HMO type health insurance.

They have a basket of free Johnnies at the university health centre.

That would work. I expect that seeing a chap in one of those hospital gowns would be enough contraception :D

Wow, you must be at the hump central uni then, because we get nothing here at my Uni, not even a free mint :o

Not only is contraception expensive, the people who prescribe it are the same ones who benefit financially from your pregnancy, plus they have a "moral right" to refuse to prescribe contraception if they don't approve of it. Now who in their right mind would choose the once a year copay over the income from a pregnancy and subsequent new human....?

roll

It's Oregon..

It rains there a lot and so there's not much else to do aside from chew tobacco and indulge in strange sexual behaviour with plaid shorts and grown up men wearing Smokey the bear suits...

:)

Big on Furries up there huh? *shudders*
