I was doing some clothes shopping earlier today, and they were playing 'Let it Snow' in Express. I was flabbergasted!

I almost put down the scarf I was buying and walked out in disgust. Instead I just asked the cashier why they were playing Christmas stuff already, she said that most people were actually Christmas shopping. I ask you? roll
I've been Christmas shopping all year! When I see something I like for a gift then I buy it and squirrel it away so I'm not mega-stressed come December. I've almost finished for this year actually.

But don't hate me.

That's fine, just good planning. But that doesn't mean they should play Christmas songs all year does it?
But then men tend to think that December 24th is too early to be Christmas shopping! They blather around the perfume counter at Boots half an hour before closing and end up with some foul-smelling "designer" niff that their significant other will no doubt be returning on Boxing Day for a refund. roll

But, the one sweet part of being in the US, is you don't have to hear "So here it is Merry Christmas everybody's having fun, look to the future now, etc. etc." about 100 times a year.

Now we are in retail, by the way, we think Christmas is a wonderful, wonderful, thing. Everyone should get into the Christmas spirit more (i.e., get out their wallets).

Bah humbug!
Sorry TexasBrit, I make as many of my gifts as I can. It's more personal that way and I don't have to go to the stores, (I hate shopping of any kind) and of course it's much cheaper. But this way, I make gifts expecially for the recipient so they are one of a kind gifts.

Call me Scroogette, but I hate the overwhelming commercialism and greed that arrives at this time of the year.

And if I hear Christmas music this time of the year... I walk out of the store. October is just too early.

I love giving gifts all year round... I have grandchildren who love recieving them. But it seems, every year at this time, the stores are filled with expensive junk and the kids want, and expect, everything.

Me too... more than that it takes me into homesickness territory :(

That just got me thinking actually. I have a couple of Christmas compilation CD's and wasn't sure where they were put after the wife moved here. Just had to go and look for them.
The wife actually looked pretty horrified just now when I found them.... wink wink wink
Hey! This shouldn't have been moved into Music, it's about retail! Now it will only get half the views it would have. roll -?

Mate, that was a cold-hearted marketing ploy on the behalf of the Britnet business team

I picked up a few things when I was last in Costco a few weeks ago, but I have yet to make a list. We don't do a lot of Christmas shopping (it's not the main point for us), so it's manageable up to the end.

I took a very infirm 88-year old Christmas shopping in Windsor the other day. She had a long list that took us into 6 or 7 shops. I need a few weeks to recover from it!

The most "stressful" part of Christmas for us is managing all the parties and other events that either we or the children are involved in. Right now, I am in buying mode for a Ladies' Advent Evening (150 people expected) which we are having mid-November, and I have to produce a costume for DS's Nativity Play to be taken into school right after half-term. And things will really start hotting up in the next few weeks. If I can fit it in, I'll probably host a 3-family Thanksgiving meal.

I have to admit as a guy I am terrible at Christmas shopping, can't think of things to get people, even family, and end up buying them flights and hols and thigs which they seem to appreciate..........

I always go home for Xmas (if I didn't my Mum would shoot me) and know it is really that time of year when I hear Slade start shouting 'It's Christmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas'!....love it D
I hate Christmas music. With a vengeance. evil

You know what I hate even more? Seasonal sweaters. evil evil
