....To The Galaxy - the new radio serialisation of the last 3 books, reuniting most of the original cast, as I write this, is about to start momentarily on Radio Four.
It's also repeated Thursday.
However, after that, the website will keep each episode up for listening for seven days. Hurrah!!

Well Ive listened to the first two episodes and I think its quite good. It still has that kind of existential humour, and it's still quirky and entertaining. William Franklin was a perfect replacement for the voice of the guide too. Marvin the robot is still as depressed as ever and the part at Lords with the robots with Richard Griffiths as Slartibartfast with Henry Blofeld and Fred Trueman was funny D
I completely agree. I think it's every bit as good as the original, without sounding at all dated. I've been enjoying it immensely. D
It seems that there is going to be a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy big screen debut after all wink

I wonder what the americans will make of that film? wink
I've heard that the CD for the new (radio) series is already out.

I saw an Ad for it before National Treasure on Friday,...though there were no screen shots...
I hope they don't screw it up too much though...I mean its like Americans making a version of Monty Python...some of the humour in there is essentially British.

Actually looks pretty good judging by the trailer
Douglas Adams wrote the screenplay. Soi it ought to be enjoyable enough.
I can't wait. Just bought all the books again to read before the film comes out. Have been chortling myself stupid on the subway, earning me some very disgusted looks. I don't care, Marvin creases me up.
I think its hard not to compare it to the BBC TV series. That was pretty excellent.
I'll be honest - I was a bit too young to watch it back then! wink
I saw it but didn't really understand the fuss about it - seemed occasionally amusing but generally just rambling.
Maybe I was too young? (Worth a shot!)

Sure it was. I watched it on UK Gold a few years later. Honest. I'm too young too.... Actually, they used most of the same people for the TV show as they did on the radio.
I watched THGTTG when I was young but I also went and got the THGTTG books out at the library!! I enjoyed the use of science mixed up with that kind of british whimsical humour, and lets be honest there wasnt much sci-fi comedy around then either!! Its the aforementioned british aspect of the humour of the show that makes me wonder how this film is going to be looked upon by the main stream american audience. I would have thought that Red Dwarf would have been a little more easier for the international market!! wink
