Just caught the end of one of my favorite movies, Benny and Joon, with johnny Depp floating past the window. Then the end music, the Proclaimers and their song, I'm gonna be(500 miles), lyrics below,

When I wake up yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you
When I go out yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you

If I get drunk yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who gets drunk next to you
And if I haver yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you

{Refrain}
But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the man who walked 1,000 miles
To fall down at your door

When I'm working yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's working hard for you
And when the money comes in for the work I'll do
I'll pass almost every penny on to you

{Refrain}

When I come home yeah I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who comes back home to you
And if I grow old well I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's growing old with you

{Refrain}

When I'm lonely yes I know I'm gonna be
I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you
When I'm dreaming yes I know I'm gonna dream
Dream about the time when I'm with you

So the question is, and has been for many years, What the 'ell does HAVER or HAVERING mean?
Have you havered?
Will you, at the drop of a hat, haver?
Do you know anyone who's havered?
Who, if anyone have you havered to, and what did it involve?

Help, please, this is an old question and google and years don't give a satisfactory answer. Any Scots know?
I believe it means to talk rubbish, or at the very least to blather.
No clue about havering, annie. But love that song though.

Thankyou peeps. I still have yet to find a person who has ever used the word. Blather sounds much better than nonsensical speech, must get my googler bot re oriented. lol
