Do you think they will go down? I may be a life long Chelsea fan but Ipswich was our local team the last few years we lived in England, in Suffolk. George Burley has always been a fair and compasionate manager to the tractor boys and I hope they manage to scrape through for another premier season.
Sadly, after standing many times in the North Stand, we are going down again. Old Ipswich and Liverpool great John Walk, last week described our game at Bolton as follows-
In many ways Saturday's awful performance at Bolton was worse than the 9-0 loss at Manchester United in 1995 (last time we went down). At least that was against quality opposition who would probably have put five or six past anyone that day and we kept going throughout the 90 minutes. Bolton were nowhere near the side that Manchester United were on that day and have several players that are hardly Premiership class.
That don't say alot for our play this season, with almost the same team that finished 5th last year. We are finished sad
Not a Ipswich supporter (im chelsea of course) but it would be a shame, never seen a club sink so low in the league tables so fast after having such a good season last year ....
Today our day came, seen off in style to meet the old firm next year? cry
Hate getting relegated - been there and it's painful. Commiserations and hope they can bounce back. We had an ex-Ipswich player once and he was brilliant - Steve McCall - classiest midfielder I ever saw.
We got relegated by Blackburn Rovers the year they went into the Premiership so lots of cameras there to catch our tears.
I have no doubt the Tractor Boys will bounce back next season. It was a crushing lose to end the season on. The only good thing to come out of it is Liverpool will finish above Man U grin
