Saw these two movies on preview at my local movie theatre.

Shaun of The Dead is possibly the funniest movie I've seen in a long long time. Simon Pegg is brilliant as ever. Go see it - it isn't really a zombie movie at all. It's actually presented as a "Romatic Zombie Comedy" - meaning it's very British and very funny.

And then watched Silver City with Chris Cooper which is the best political movie I've seen since Cradle Will Rock or The Contender. Chris Cooper does an even better bad candidate than Tim Robbins did in Bob Roberts. This is a must see before the election - and personally I think would do more damage to Bush than Farenheit 911 ever could have.

Anyone else see any movies they'd recommend?
I saw Shaun of the Dead too over the weekend. Not a work of genius, but an amusing flick and good for us homesick brits. Definitely recomend. Don't take the kids if you are sensitive about swearing as there is some good old earthy British language in the film. Good stuff.
Saw Shaun over the weekend after hearing about it on my trip home. It was pigging hilarious!
Must be a guy thing.
I saw this while in the UK and thought it was pointless and not funny at all.

I thought it was alright but mainly becuase it was set in London - one American review I saw said it was a statement about the UK..- full of dead people but no one had noticed.

Shaun of the Dead, just watched it from Netflix,

Thanks babe lol lol lol
I saw most of Shaun of the Dead at a friends and didn't find it all that funny. It was ok but got tiresome after a while. Really actually reminded me of a far better movie in the same genre Peter Jackson's "Bad Taste".
Saw it yonks ago in Toronto and thought it was wonderful.

I liked the way it was not setting out to be a satire of horror movies (no monsters suddenly break-dancing) but is a legitimate, but very funny horror movie in its own right. Those zombies are really quite scary.

I loved Penelope Wilton as the Mum who doesn't want to bother anyone. And of course, the initial scene where the carnage has happenned, but in his crappy part of north London, the main character doesn't notice, is definitely a statement.
You could say I was slightly off with Silver City. lol

LOVED shaun of the dead, especially when Bill Nighy has been bitten by a zombie and Shaun's mum wants to call the Dr. and he says "Don't fuss, I've got a tissue" something my Dad would say...

Finally got to see Shaun of the Dead on DVD last night. Bloody hilarious! Too many funny bits to recount here but one that stood out was the first scene in the Winchester Pub where Simon Pegg trys to combact his girlfriend Liz's berating him for being a bit of a pratt when it comes to their relationship. Very, very funny stuff.

ukm
I too finally got to see this a few weeks ago and I loved it, very funny, very British.

Lee, you summed up exactly what I thought about it, oh and I too loved the "don't fuss" bit EEB.
