We know of a family living down there. They moved from the UK about 8 - 9 years ago. They didn't have any children at the time but now have 2. They live northwest atlanta and he works in Marietta.
If that is any good for you, Zed, I can see if there is a way we can get the two of you in touch with each other, or I can find out some details for you.

Don't particularly like the actual city of Atlanta....too dodgy...too many people off their heads on drugs or alcohol or both....particularly around the INS building o But the general NW Georgia area is very nice - mountainous and scenic.

Thanks Ben.
Adeshell - It would be in the NW not actually in Atlanta itself been there and it felt more worrying then NY.
VRB - The children don't have any cousins down there to marry
wink So I think they should be safe. )
Thinking of moving.

My kid sister spent a year and a bit down there as an au pair. She liked it a lot.
Atlanta is very groovy these days apparently.

We may look to live around the Stockbridge area. Does anyone know of any good recruitment companies for Art Directors/ Senior web designers around the Atlanta area?
Thank you

Try Elite Technical. They're the people who brought me over and they have an office in Atlanta. Thats if they're still around after the tech bubble burst. They were pretty good.

Yes - Well Atlanta Metro area and very happy as well. Probably has one of the better Earnings/cost of living ratios, property is still relitavely cheap compared to other large cities. Traffic is really bad, but petrol is some of the cheapest in the country. Lot of expats here, visit http://www.twobrits.com we try and schedule a monthly meet up for meal or bowling or whatever gets voted favourite (or least unfavourite).
Not sure exacly where Stockbridge is (probably should look it up), but a good proportion of Brits do live NW or N of Atlanta.

Thanks stredw - All going well and from what I've seen (from researching myself I would rather move to Alpharetta) just have to convince Mr Zed that being a hour away from MIL is still better then the 16 hours we currently are! More then likely it will be, just short of 2 years before we can move there. From what I researched though it seems hard to find a job in Atlanta if your out of state any incite on this.
Cheers

Alpharetta is a nice area - lots of high tech stuff there, and quite a few Brits too. Worked there for a while myself.
As for finding positions, have you tried searching on monster.com and the others. Normally they would list several in the Atlanta area and most companies would help with relocation for the right candidate.
Good luck.

I lived in Smyrna (near Mayretta, Gaw Gaw) for three years and just couldn't stand the traffic to work every day....It was a bleedin Parkin lot all day long...then we moved out to Athens, close to the University of Ga in 1989. Been here ever since. Nice little town with a lot of things for young people to do (very nice music scene) and only 65 miles nw of Atlanta. Just in case anyone is interested.
