Following on from the Sci-Fi thread I was thinking what often makes great film is a great villain.
So who are the baddest bad guys?
and on that note who are the villianesses?
I think Jack Nicholson really stole the show as The Joker in Batman.
The bad Terminators really push the film along in T1 and T2.
Darth Vader is the ultimate expression of menace in Star wars.
Someone we all know ( and I Love) thinks Alan Rickman is to die for in anything, he was a good villain in Die Hard, and excellent in Prince of Thieves.
The only lead female villain that comes to mind is Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct, but since it's not one of my personal favourites I don't really count it.
Jack Nicholson in The Shining, really scarey -?
Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction would be my female choice 8)
Cruella Deville in the animated version of 101 Dalmations was a real female demon lol

:D :D awww, isnt that so cute, you are such a romantic Beest
Definitely Alan Rickman.. even in the Potter films, can't decide if he's good or bad.. but either way I want to take him home!
Nicholson in.. the Shinning ..is pretty hard to beat .
but Micheal Rooker in ..
Henry portrait of a serial killer comes close as does
Anthony Perkins in ..psycho..you know that norman bates fellow evil
I've seen Diana Rigg play a great villainesse.
Tom of Tom and Jerry fame isn't that bad.
Always thought Terry Thomas played a good part, although he was more of a cad than a villain.
Rickman is great in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.
Gary Oldman in loads of things - Leon (or The Proffesional if you prefer), True Romance, and the camp king in The Fifth Element.
Kevin Spacey in Swimming With Sharks is great as the worst boss ever.
Agent smith from The Matrix movies was good.
Marlon Brando as Colonel Kurtz.
Sir Ben Kinglsey as Don Logan in Sexy Beast. Absolutely awesome.
Christopher Walken in anything. Shudder...
Robin Williams in One Hour Photo.
And of course, Al Pacino as Satan in The Devil's Advocate.
Oh, and I really really like Alfred Molina in anything he does but he's great in Spiderman 2.
Klaus Kinsky, even when he's playing the hero he comes across like a villain. Gary Oldman, thanx Bungle, trying to remember his name for a day, and of course Anthony Hopkins, Fava beans anybody. brrr!
How could I forget Christopher Walken??
Sir Ben Kinglsey as Don Logan in Sexy Beast. Absolutely awesome.
That man was a brilliant villian, thanks for that reminder. I love that movie 8)
I vote for Hissing Sid in the Captain Beaky song
"Once Hissing Sid, an evil snake, kept the woodland folk awake
In fear and trembling every night
In case he gave someone a bite "

The Hairy Nairn of Nairn.
Blanche the baby owl.
I loved those characters.
What about the Kathy Bates character in Misery? Surely she gets it for best female villain?

Other than some of the *bette davis * charactors, Annie Wilkes does it for me
