Kind of feel sorry fer her. She was absolutely devastated that she had to pull out, she just could not run any more. This happens now and again. My brother used to run marathons and he told me it was nothing you could control. No matter how hard you train, and Paula Radcliffe does train very, very hard your body just gives out for no reason.
I think she was in so much shock because her training had gone well she wasn't injured and she had won her last 3 marathons, so it wasn't as if she couldn't hack it, or didn't try, her legs gave out and that was it. My bro has compteted in a lot of long distance races and has won many. But he has also suffered when legs just could not move anymore. He didn't cramp, didn't dehydrate. didn't give up...he just could not go on. I think this is much harder on her than anyone else. She just kept repeating that she had let evreyone down. Must be tough to totally fail in the glare of massive publicity, especially when you are used to winning.

And as Steve Cram has been saying for the last few weeks, Radcliffe always seems to face alot of negative press inthe UK about her not being able to hack it no matter how succesful she is.
