Another big name manager underestimates Plymouth Argyle - this time it was Mick McCarthy of Sunderland.
Mick said earlier this week "They're a useful team but let's not build them up into something they're not - we shouldn't be going down there worrying about Plymouth."
D What was the score again, Mick?
I wonder how long big Mick is going to be at Sunderland for? If they start losing there could be a Roker roar for Mick's job. wink
Heard there is a vacancy at St Mary's, they quite like the look of your new manager Pilgrim. wink
lol
Funny manc! Definitely "hands-off" this time. Bobby Williamson is even better than Sturrock in my opinion - not to take anything away from Sturrock who made massive (needed) changes over the past few years.
Sturrock wins either way - his compensation/salary if sacked will still be over a million pounds and he'll get snapped up to manage a team in either the Championship or just below.
Beating Blackburn on Saturday bought him a bit more time at St. Mary's, at least.

2 days?
Sturrock leaves Saints
I agree with Frank Clark - ludicrous to sack him after just two games.
Lowe always has been a w****r so I think it really is time for Southampton to go where fate wants it - down to the Coca Cola Championship.
Changing places with Plymouth Argyle in May would be priceless wink
That's Southampton's loss. I dont think Sturrock is going to be out of work for very long...
Add Nottingham Forest to our list of scalps - the Argyle fans taunted the Forest fans at Home Park last night with "You're Not Famous Any More" )
Forest clawed back to level terms from a 2 goal deficit and seemed to think they might even take all 3 points back to the City Ground, until Plymouth were awarded a penalty in the 93rd minute, restoring some justice as they'd had a much better chance of a penalty shortly before Forest equalised (didn't help matters that the entire Argyle team seemed to be surrounding the ref as Forest put it away). Good things come to those who wait, after all.

You are doing really well :D
When do you play Ipswich? Thats my BiL/Nephew's local team, they always have season tickets. Nephew was really peeved when he was shipped out to Iraq last year and missed so many games!
We play Ipswich at Portman Road (do they still play there?) on September 25th and then at Home Park on January 3rd.

Yes, I'm pretty certain they haven't moved anywhere. I guess I'll have to be cheering on The Tractor Boys on the 25th :D

It is funny what the Plymouth fans were chanting, but whatever happened to Forest? They had their time where they were one of the best teams in the league and now theyre just a pale shadow of what they used to be. Forest were in danger of losing The City Ground at one point they still might be?

I think they're just grateful they ain't Sheffield Wednesday

Cloughie retired. That's what happened to Forest. And Tony Woodcock, too.

Not just Tony Woodcock, he went to Germany they had a good squad at one point and then it all seemed to go wrog, maybe Cloughie's decline was a part of it?
