With one bronze (in synchronised diving of all things) Canada's level-pegging with Mongolia and Slovenia, whilst Azerbaijan and Zimbabwe are beating us!!

Much soul-searching in the media here and even calls by some swimming contestants to summarily sack the Canadian coach.

Canada's most significant contribution so far seems to have been a crazed Canadian fan in a blue tutu, breaching Olympic security by jumping into a swimming pool during one of the diving events.
If only moose-tipping were a sport eh? wink
The Olympics has changed dramatically.

The CBC site on Olympics history is very interesting regarding the number of number of countries, athletes and events.

Canada has been fairly consistent, but has never really made it in track and field.
The biggest effect has been the proffesionalization of all sports.

I'm dead proud of Britain. Fantastic results.

By the way, can anybody answer why in the Olympic context it's the archane 'Great Britain' and not 'United Kingdom' or just 'Britain'?
