Couldn't believe it when I saw it but Real have bought Michael Owen.

"The deal is believed to involve Liverpool getting £8m for 24-year-old England international Owen plus midfielder Antonio Nunez from Real."

Second string midfielder? Stevie Gerrard will not be pleased - his best mate (Murphy) left after learning he wasn't wanted - and his other good mate Owen, the reason Gerrard stayed, has gone! I must confess as much as like Owen I agree with this BBC comment "Those supporting Owen's departure suggest Liverpool have become one-dimensional with him in the side, relying too much on his pace and goal-scoring." It really was a case of "give it to Owen" and he had a hard time making it happen. 8 mill is cheap considering what Liverpool paid for Cisse. Still we've got Baros who's decent, Cisse who could be great, Sinama-Pongolle who's pretty average to be honest, and we just offloaded Le Tallec who looked very good. I think Liverpool need another young striker.

Still, it isn't as bad as Man Utd's striker problem. Ruud is out for at least a month, Solskjaer is out all season, Saha could be out for 3 months even if Alex denies it. And how bad do you feel if you'r eDiego Forlan and you read this on the BBC - "United's summer signing Alan Smith is now United's only recognised striker, along with Diego Forlan."

"Along with!?" Ouch.
