As the story says "Hungry summer picnickers will soon be able to tuck into their sandwiches, sausages and pork pies without having to take the clingfilm off first."

Thanks to the science wonks at Oregon State University kids everywhere will be covering their heads in clingfilm and trying to eat their way out. Until they realize they didn't buy the edible kind. Woops a daisy. Oh, and for those with shellfish or egg allergies - sorry none for you - it's made from "an ingredient in crab and shrimp shells, and lysozyme, a protein from egg whites."

Interesting - I never heard of that research but the researcher is real enough.

There was something in our paper the other week about some other research where they've invented carbonated fruits.
