Bloody hell!! That knocked me sideways! Look on the bright side (erm...) it makes picking an England midfield easier. Still, I would have picked him in it every time.
It was a surprise, but given that Erikkson has been mis-using him on the left, plus he'd been getting stick for not scoring I suppose it makes sense.

At least he'll be fresher for United now.

Do you really think it'll make that much of a difference?

Maybe, maybe not. There's no chance of him returning from international duty injured now, but its impossible to know for sure whether not playing internationals will help him perform better for United.

TBH, I think England may miss him in the short term. He's always been best playing "in the hole", where Rooney was playing during Euro 2004. With Rooney injured it might have made sense to play Scholes there in the short term till Rooney returned.

Longer term, England have a lot of good central midfielders, so probably won't miss Scholes too much. The problem is still the lack of a left winger.
